The Love of Christ possesses us!
Our charism is the witness to the world of the love of God the good and provident Father through the perennial praise of God and the service of charity to the neediest brothers and sisters, “those who have no one to think of them”. Our Founder, St Joseph Benedict Cottolengo, dreamt of us as “sisters and mothers” alongside the neediest brothers and sisters in whom he recognised the real presence of the suffering Christ. In our daily dedication to our mission in every part of the world, we believe in and abandon ourselves with total trust in the Father who “feeds the birds of the air and clothes the lilies of the field”. In the emerging challenges of our time, we commit ourselves to seek “first and foremost the Kingdom of God and his righteousness” certain that “everything else will be given to us in addition” (cf. Mt 6:25-34). We are guided by the knowledge that the joy of fraternal communion and dedication in every service to our brothers and sisters in need is born and nourished in constant and profound communion with God “Caritas Christi urget nos” (cf. 2 Cor 5:14) and in filial devotion to the Virgin Mary, our good Mother. Let us express our amazement and gratitude for the benefits that the Lord daily bestows on us his children with the canticle “Deo gratias”.
